Developer's Note: Game Jam Build
BEYOND-BIT was created specifically for The Top-Down SNES Era Jam. Due to the jam's time constraints, this is currently an unfinished prototype.
Current State:
- The core exploration, Boomerang Needle, and basic puzzles are fully playable.
- The overworld is partially implemented.
BEYOND-BIT is a top-down retro action RPG about restoring a corrupted digital world. Explore Silicon Valley’s circuit-board overworld, recover fidelity shards from dragon lairs, rescue lost Bits, and rebuild the world from broken bit-rot into richer 16-bit color and sound.
Fight with the Logic Needle, throw the Boomerang Needle, solve block and bridge puzzles, rescue allies, and confront the Legacy Wizard inside the CPU Lockout.
Keyboard Controls
- Move: WASD or Arrow Keys
- Attack / Boomerang: J or Shift
- Shield / Interact: K or Space
- Magnet: L or O
- Dash: I or U
- Pause: Escape
Gamepad and touch controls are also supported.

- Tech Stack: Built as a browser game using vanilla JavaScript, HTML5 Canvas, and Web Audio.
AI Acknowledgement
This game was developed with AI-assisted coding and design support. Final creative direction, implementation decisions, testing, and release choices were guided by the creator.
Known Issues & Missing Features:
- The final confrontation with the Legacy Wizard inside the CPU Lockout is not yet in the game.
- Some collision detection around the dragon lairs might be inconsistent.
- A few sound effects are currently missing.
Thank you for playing this early build! I plan to continue updating the game to its full 16-bit glory after the jam ends.
